There are several media reports today of Health Canada potentially allowing food makers to fortify ‘junk’ foods with added nutrients. Thus, letting manufacturers promote these still unhealthy options as better alternatives than regular junk foods.

While it might seem obvious that we’re not going to fall for calcium-fortified doughnuts, this move will still blur the lines on what’s healthy and what’s not when many of us are already fighting weight problems. More importantly, the question is, will it confuse our kids? Will it give them more reasons to pick a fat-laden cookie over an apple?
