An exciting event will be taking place tonight at Hart House at the University of Toronto. Chefs Michael Smith, of TV show Chef at Home, and Best Health’s own Paul Finkelstein, will prepare a delicious four-course dinner with proceeds going to support school and community initiatives that support the ideal that healthy food is a right, not a privilege.

This is a cause close to Finkelstein’s heart. As a vocal proponent of bringing nutrition to Canada’s schools, and teaching kids the benefits of preparing and eating locally produced foods, he has implemented a program at Northwestern Secondary School in Stratford where he is a teacher. He is also the brains behind The Screaming Avocado Café which is run by his students and serves healthy, freshly prepared meals that compete with the standard fare served down the hall at the school’s other cafeteria. It’s been a huge success and proves Finkelstein’s belief that kids will happily eat healthy, nutritious foods if given the opportunity.

If you are in Toronto tonight, check out the event and meet Best Health editors in attendance. The Chef at Hart House event starts at 6:30 p.m. tonight with a reception and then dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $120 each and can be purchased at uofttix.ca or by calling, (416) 978-8849.
