Now, don’t get me wrong, I love summer and wish it lasted longer than it does. But since the hot, humid days suddenly appeared in southern Ontario on Sunday, I remembered one of the few things I don’t like about summer: the layer of sweat that appears on your skin after, oh, 30 seconds outside.

Needless to say, the weather brings a new level of complexity to makeup application, especially if you live in a house without air-conditioning. So how do you show off your best skin for summer? The kind folks at CoverGirl shared the following tips with us:

Changing your moisturizer from an oil-based formula (that adds extra hydration during the drier, colder winter months) to a water-based formula in the summer can help control excessive oil, leaving the skin looking fresh and clean.

‘ Remember to use sun protection. If your moisturiser doesn’t contain sunscreen, be sure to look for a foundation that does, or find a face-specific sunblock that you can wear under makeup.

‘ Apply a light dusting of bronzer over your entire face for a gorgeous sun-kissed finish.

Switching up your foundation and concealer going into the summer months is another key factor in maintaining healthy and natural-looking skin. Try mixing your regular foundation into a lightweight moisturiser for lighter coverage.

How much makeup do you wear in the summer, and what are some of your failproof tips?
