When I first began my journey into whole beauty, there were not many luxury makeup lines that were nontoxic and made with organic ingredients. Now we are incredibly lucky because that has completely changed, and there are several such makeup lines available that I love—RMS Beauty, Vapour Organic Beauty, Kosås Cosmetics, and Ilia Beauty, just to name a few. (Editor’s Note: These are our 15 favourite natural beauty brands – and they’re all Canadian!) I find this very exciting, as we can now experience vibrant and rich colors without sacrificing our health. However, when you have glowing, dewy skin, you do not need much makeup—just a reddish-pink lip tint and a light coat of mascara will do. And don’t forget to try my Venus Beauty mask for soft, hydrated skin.

Blissful Beetroot Lip Balm

2 tablespoons beeswax
2 tablespoons cocoa butter
2 tablespoons coconut oil
2 tablespoons beet juice or pureed beet
Small glass container or metal tin with lid

Directions: In a small saucepan, melt the beeswax, cocoa butter, and coconut oil over low heat until liquefied. Remove from the heat and whisk in the beet juice or puree. Put the mixture in a blender and blend on high for 30 seconds to emulsify. Transfer the mixture to the container and refrigerate until solid. The lip balm can be kept at room temperature away from direct heat or sunlight for 3 to 4 months or stored in the refrigerator for up to a year.

Tip: This lip balm will melt easily, so be careful about leaving it in your purse on a hot summer day.
