If you want to prevent breast cancer, you’d better get cracking. Cracking walnuts, that is!

New research from Marshall University finds a daily dose of walnuts could reduce the growth of breast cancer tumours.

In a study done on mice, researchers found that the group of mice fed a daily portion of walnuts developed breast cancer at less than half the rate of the group with a regular diet’even though the mice were all genetically programmed to develop cancer at a high rate.

But could these findings also apply to humans? Researchers think so, because walnuts are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and phytosterols that may help curb cancer in people too.

To incorporate these healthy nuts into your regular diet, aim for approximately two ounces per day’and try one of the recipes below!
